Robert and I spent a week sanding, staining, and sealing: picking out stain colors, obsessing over cracks, smoothing splintered edges with surgical drips of epoxy, and applying coats of polyurethane finish every day before going to bed and the first thing in the morning. All the while wondering: what in the world are we doing? Finally, we mounted our finished product in Dream Machine. But it was too nice. Its class and panache overshadowed its environment. We needed something more, something crazier, something that would make a giant slice of a tree seem normal. Answer: art. This is insane. Why did we do this? We bought an oil painting (on Amazon Prime eligible!) a composite multi-piece canvas that seemed to fit our aesthetic and hung it above our desk. On the other hand, gender discrimination also involves treating the employees in a different manner based on their sexual orientation or gender identity which may occur in hiring, job classification, and pay. In fact, gender inequality explains that it is associated with gender identities which are considered as male and female, while sex refers to anatomical identity, for instance, a worker who identifies a transgender is harassed by the coworker due to the identification or firing an employee because of their gender transition. This has been proven that sexual harassment is also one of the significant issue that causes gender discrimination. According to this act, employers are not allowed to discriminate against the applicants or employees based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin. Furthermore, retaliating against an applicant or employee who asserts his or her right under the law is prohibited by the employers. For instance, it might be legal for a strength requirement but illegal to harass someone on the basis of a protected characteristics such as race and sex. (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 2018) Furthermore, The Equal Pay Act of 1963 declared that an employer who is paying a wage rate differential in violation of this subsection shall not, in order to comply with the provisions of this subsection, reduce the wage rate of any employee. Upon entering the restaurant, you are greeted by a so-called â€Å"happy, kind, caring† waiter who afterwards, decides to escape before you have a chance to place your order. After spending what seems like an eternity waiting for him, you are now free to await your meal for an equally lengthy and agitating period of time. They are rude, imperious, riotous hooligans who freely leave behind their exotic, wide collection of litter which includes: Sticky chewing gum, Soft drink cans, cigarette butts and other delightful gifts for the next lucky customer to find. How thoughtful. Even more thoughtful of the staff to leave it festering there for weeks so other customers can experience the delight of sitting on littered seats- Lovely! Away from the annoying people and service, is the preposterous advertising that restaurants air. I challenge you to find a restaurant that doesn’t air ads about how healthy its food is and that it makes up a good diet when in a matter of fact it isn’t. Of course it is a good diet if you wish to live a life crippled with diseases! The food-high in sugar and fat- they sell is highly associated with the condition we all aim to reach: Obesity. Their ads exploit children through the promise of pathetic gimmicks and toys: They manipulate children and harness the power they possess; their â€Å"pestering power†! It seems that they brainwash children to become missionaries from Satan and give their parents horrible headaches until they finally give in and eat at the cursed restaurants.
